New Players & Families – Start Here

New to Darebin United or community football? This guide explains how to choose the right program, submit an Expression of Interest, understand trials and team placement, and complete registration when a place is offered.

Choose the right football program

Darebin United provides football opportunities from a player’s first experience through to junior and senior competition.

How joining Darebin United works

  1. Explore the programs. Use the program and age-group information to identify the most suitable pathway.
  2. Submit an Expression of Interest. An EOI tells the club that your player would like to be considered for the 2027 season. It is not a completed registration and does not guarantee a team place.
  3. Age-group review or trial. The club reviews demand, available coaches, squad numbers and any applicable trial or selection requirements.
  4. Team offer or next-step advice. Families may receive an offer, trial invitation, waitlist update or request for further information.
  5. Complete formal registration. Once a place is offered, the family must follow the registration and payment instructions by the stated deadline.

Before you submit an EOI

Before submitting an EOI, please review:

  • Age group: determined by the player’s year of birth for the 2027 season.
  • Key dates: including EOI periods, trials, offers, registration and preseason.
  • Fees and inclusions: registration fees, payment information and what is included.
  • Uniforms: playing and training uniform requirements are managed separately from the EOI.
  • Team placement: friend, coach, training and team requests may be considered but cannot be guaranteed.

What we ask in a Player EOI

The Player EOI should collect enough information to help the club understand the player and the most appropriate pathway:

  • Player name and date of birth
  • Program or division sought
  • New or returning Darebin United player
  • Current or previous club, team and playing level
  • Preferred positions, including goalkeeper interest
  • Availability for relevant trials or assessments
  • Parent or guardian name, email and mobile number

Please submit a separate EOI for each player. Medical information, identity documents, uniform sizing and payment are not required at the EOI stage.

What happens after you submit

After submitting, you should receive confirmation that the EOI has been recorded. The club will then review age-group demand, squad requirements, available coaches and any trial or selection requirements.

The next update may be a trial invitation, request for further information, team offer or waitlist advice. Please keep your contact details current and respond by any deadline shown in club communications.

An EOI does not register the player. Formal registration is required after a place has been offered.

Common questions from new families

Which age group applies?

Use the player’s year of birth and the club’s 2027 age-group table. A player’s school year does not always match their football age group.

Does submitting an EOI guarantee a place?

No. Team places depend on player numbers, available coaches, squad capacity and any required trial or selection process.

Can I request friends, a coach or particular training days?

You may provide relevant information, but the club cannot guarantee individual team or scheduling requests.

When do I pay?

Payment is completed during formal registration after an offer or registration instruction has been issued.
